The Magazine Collection holds various different magazine publications from different organisations, groups and publishers. 

All of the magazines within the collection have a connection to the city of Southend-on-Sea and the surrounding area.

Some Series contain a complete run of a magazine's publication, others only certain volumes. Some items have been rebound into volumes by Southend Library's librarians and others are in their original publication state. 

The Magazines within this collection refer to a variety of topics. Including but not limited to;

Archival history unknown before September 2013 when Southend Libraries moved their central library from the Victoria Avenue building to The Forum at Elmer Square.Different magazine publications were collected at different times - there is no chain of provenance currently available for these items but an assumption can be made that the Local Studies Librarian had custodianship and responsibility of the items before 2013 after which date custody and responsibility transferred to the Digital Officers (DOs) (previously known as User Support Officers (USOs) until 2021).
