Essex as a county has decreased over the years. Originally it covered an area of London extending along the north bank of the Thames to Canning Town, the western boundary being the River Lea. There are therefore two spearate gazetteers: the Essex County which contains all Essex postal addresses and the Essex Metropolitan containing the part of London with E postal addresses. A brief history of each cinema (with photographs where possible) is included.
