A book about Romford and its surrounding villages around the turn of the twentieth century, illustrated with photographs of the time from the author's collection. In those days the land around Romford was mainly agricultural with market gardens. Wednesday was the highlight of the week when the farmers and villagers converged on the market along with cattle, sheep, pigs, poultry and other livestock. Plus of course there were the market traders, selling everything from fruit and vegetables to oil lamps and coal skuttles.
